St Therese’s Catholic Primary School, Monto, Welcomes New Acting Principal

St Therese’s Catholic Primary School, Monto, is delighted to welcome Courtney McVean as its new Acting Principal in 2025.
With 26 years of experience in Catholic and state education, Mrs. McVean brings a wealth of leadership expertise, having served in various roles across Queensland and New South Wales. Her leadership journey includes positions as Acting Assistant Principal: Administration, Teaching Principal, Acting Deputy Principal, and cohort leader. Through these roles, she has championed inclusive school cultures, evidence-based teaching practices, and professional collaboration, always striving to create environments where students and staff can flourish.
Mrs. McVean expressed her excitement about joining the St Therese’s community, praising the school’s commitment to excellence and strong sense of belonging.
“From my first day at St Therese’s, I have been inspired by the deep sense of community and shared commitment to student success. This is a school where students thrive in a nurturing, faith-filled environment, and I feel privileged to be part of its journey.”
Guided by Gospel values, Mrs. McVean is deeply committed to ensuring that faith is not only taught but lived within the school community. She believes that Catholic education nurtures the whole child—spiritually, academically, and socially—while fostering a lifelong love of learning.
“I am passionate about creating a school where faith is celebrated, where learning is engaging, and where every child feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential,” she said.
Beyond the classroom, Mrs. McVean has a love for music. Her first ‘job’ at just 11 years old was playing drums in an old-time dance band, performing regularly for Debutante Balls in Blackwater and Emerald. She credits this experience with shaping her creativity, discipline, and ability to work as part of a team—skills that have been invaluable throughout her teaching career.
As she begins this new chapter at St Therese’s, Mrs. McVean is looking forward to working alongside students, staff, and families to continue fostering a dynamic and faith-filled learning environment.
“I believe that a Catholic education not only builds strong academic foundations but also shapes compassionate, faith-filled individuals who will go on to make a difference in their communities. I feel truly blessed to be part of this vibrant and welcoming school.”
